About
Kate DiCamillo wrote her first novel, Because of Winn-Dixie, because she was homesick for Florida and wanted a dog. She has won the Newbery Medal twice, for The Tale of Despereaux and Flora & Ulysses, and The Tiger Rising was a National Book Award finalist. Her stories are gentle and hopeful, and they are about friendship and finding where you belong.
